November is coming to a close, and I'd just like to say thanks for using the online calender and/or word count signature. Hopefully it inspired you to completion, or at the very least, gave a way for friends and family to moniter your progress. Sadly, my own attempt at a novel failed horribly, due to a new job and school, as well as other things that came up. However, the calender and/or word count graphic were quite successful, at least by my count. As of November 30th, 2006, there were 289 users who used the signature graphic (nearly half of which had a recent request for their graphic), and 315 who used the calender. Some other pointless but fun statistics:

Successful requests: 181,137
Average requests per day: 6,468

Data transferred: 1.30 gigabytes (Still far below 1% of my allowed transfer)
Average data transferred per day: 47.59 megabytes

Busiest week: Week beginning Nov 5
Busiest Day: Sundays

The most requests came from the NaNo site, with the next highest amount coming from a Nascar fanfiction site. Then, a bunch of forums and blogs.

Most people viewed the pages/signature with Internet Explorer, and then Firefox, and Safari. This is to be expected. The most interesting is the 5 hits from a blackberry browser, and the 12 hits from Web TV.

At least 7 people downloaded the .zip file I had containing the source code for the image. There were about 8,000 times that the site gave out 404 error messages to people.

The calender will be set to day 30 for the rest of the year, so you can see how your progress was. Also, I'll be fixing a few bugs, and probably redoing it to show a more normal Sunday-Saturday style calender, as opposed to the "first day of the month to the last" like it is now. Look for the return of the online calender for NaNo 07! Thanks again, and congratulations to all those who finished.
